Passionné d’architecture, Jean-Marc Stébé, né en 1956, s’oriente vers la sociologie urbaine, orientation disciplinaire qui le conduira à préparer une thèse de doctorat à l’Université Paris X Nanterre sous la direction du professeur Henri Raymond. Après l’obtention en 1993 d’un Doctorat en sociologie portant sur l’évaluation des politiques de la ville, Jean-Marc Stébé soutient en 2000 une Habilitation à diriger des recherches en sociologie à l’Université Nancy 2. Il est aujourd’hui professeur émérite de l’Université de Lorraine. Il mène par ailleurs toutes ses recherches dans le cadre du Laboratoire lorrain de sciences sociales (2L2S) – Axe « Ville, Environnement et Migrations ».

In a few words

Born in 1956, Jean-Marc Stébé first became interested in urban sociology through his love of architecture.  He studied at the University Paris X Nanterre under the supervision of Professor Henri Raymond. Graduating in 1993 with a Doctorate in Sociology on the assessment of urban policies, Jean-Marc Stébé received his accreditation to supervise research in sociology at the University of Nancy 2 in 2000. Today, he his professor emeritus at the University of Lorraine in the Sociology Department. Furthermore, all his research is conducted in the Social Sciences Laboratory of Lorraine (2L2S) – Area « Urban, Environment and Migration »
